Two road projects finished

Two recently reconstructed roads were dedicated on October 12. More than $3.75 million was spent on the new roads, which are on heavily traveled school bus routes near Montezuma Creek.
The completed work is one step in the massive effort to address the serious road challenges in San Juan County.
A total of 3.5 miles of road was totally rebuilt on County Road 414 near Hatch Trading Post. The work includes widening and straightening the roads, in addition to new pavement and culverts.
The $3.5-million project was funded by the State of Utah and San Juan County. The Navajo Nation will maintain the new road.
The work was completed by Legrand Johnson and S&S Construction.
Two miles of work was completed south of Montezuma Creek on the Lone Mountain Wash Road. The work includes a new all-season road featuring an elevated crown, ditches, culverts, erosion control, and gravel surface.
The $260,000 project is funded by San Juan County and the Navajo Revitalization Fund. Harrison Construction completed the work. Both projects were designed by Jones and DeMille.
