Candidate for Utah Attorney General
For the last two and one half years, I’ve had the privilege of serving you by protecting our communities and families from violent criminals, white-collar fraudsters and expansive overregulation of our lives and businesses.
When I took office, I promised to restore trust. In 2015, the Daniels Ethics Foundation in partnership with the University of Utah, recognized me and my office with a prestigious award for Integrity in Government.
I also promised to increase the caliber of legal work. Fittingly, we were honored by all other AG offices in the country for the top Supreme Court brief in 2016.
I promised to turn the office into an excellent law firm. And for two consecutive years we have won multiple Best of State awards including Best State Government Agency.
We created Teen Suicide Intervention App, Safe UT as a critical technology resource overseen by the AG office with worldwide experts at UNi psychiatric answering outreach of kids in crisis.
I also created a White Collar Fraud Registry that lists convicted white-collar felons and is the first of its kind in the US.
These are just some of the reasons we were honored by a national association as being the top website for fighting crime.
Additional accomplishments from the past two years include:
Leading the largest human trafficking takedown and assisted largest synthetic marijuana bust in Utah history.
Defending Utah’s laws and our state against overreach from the federal government.
Hosting delegations of leaders from over 30 countries who came to Utah for training on fighting human trafficking, corruption and white collar fraud
Educating students on civics, internet safety and bullying; working with the Utah Innocence Project to overturn questionable convictions.
Negotiating almost $15 billion in settlement with VW to take care of consumers and the environment.
I created a Utah cyber lab to fight internet crime.
Our Internet Crime Against Children Task Force recently won national recognition as one of the best in the US by the Department of Justice.
Over the past two years, we have expanded the number of Children Justice Centers for supporting child victims of abuse.
Lastly, I am proud to share that the AG office has increased opportunities for hiring and promoting women and minorities.
