Whitehorse, Monument Valley among top 1A teams

The Whitehorse girls basketball team is number one in the most recent RPI standings released by the Utah High School Activities Association, and Monument Valley weighs in at number three. The teams are ranked second and fourth respectively by the Deseret News as of January 5, 2020.

Whitehorse won two of three games at the Shiprock, NM Tournament December 12-14 and swept the Bulldog Classic in Dove Creek, CO December 20-21 to finish 2019 with a 9-2 overall record.

The Lady Raiders opened 2020 with a home game against Shiprock Northwest on January 7 and will head to Green River for their first Region 19 matchup of the season this Friday, January 10.

Monument Valley closed out 2019 and opened 2020 with four straight wins, including road victories over Monticello 62-49 and Valley 51-50 January 3 and 4.

The Lady Cougars sport a 7-4 overall record and played Red Valley / Cove, AZ on the road January 7. MVHS is next in action this Friday, January 10 at Shonto Prep, AZ.
