Whitehorse girls cross country wins Stewart Foster Invitational, boys finish second

The Whitehorse High School cross country team added another strong performance to their 2019 record at the Stewart Foster Invitational at the Huntington State Park Monday, September 9.

Led by three top-five finishers, the girls team grabbed a team championship at the event. Senior Daan Filfred finished in second individually.

She completed the three-mile course in 23:26, just ten seconds off the winning time of Monument Valley’s McKayla Holiday.

Third place in the race went to sophomore Heidi Thomas and senior Kianna Willie finished in fifth. Lady Raider senior LewKatia Hascon rounded out the top ten with a 31:25.

The boys had a strong meet also, finishing in three of the top four spots and taking second as a team behind Providence Hall. Junior Xavier Martin led the way for the Raiders with an individual championship time of 18:36.

Sophomore Weston Manygoats finished in second place and sophomore Keeyah Begay grabbed fourth.

The Raider Cross Country team continues to make statements, with top ten finishes at Wayne, Monticello, and Navajo Mountain to go along with their excellent performance in Huntington last week.
