San Juan High School Cross Country
Head Coach Holly Walker: “When people talk about student-athletes who redefine leadership, dedication, and kindness, one name continues to rise to the top – Brinley Jones. A standout both academically and athletically, Brinley represents the very best of what high school sports and education strive to cultivate.
“Brinley balances an exceptional academic record with a full schedule of athletics and service. Known for her strong work ethic and intellectual drive, she consistently performs at the highest level in the classroom, proving that excellence in sports and academics can go hand in hand.
“On the cross country course, Brinley doesn’t just compete – she leads. As team captain she has become the she has become the heart of the program, motivating teammates, setting the tone for training, and supporting others through both victories and challenges. Her leadership extends beyond race day. She is widely recognized as a mentor to younger athletes, taking the time to answer questions, offer encouragement, and help new team members feel valued and supported.
“Brinley’s love for athletics doesn’t end with cross country. She also plays soccer and runs track, bringing the same competitive spirit, sportsmanship, and team-first mindset to every sport she participates in. Outside of sports Brinley’s commitment to service is just as impressive. With numerous volunteer and community service hours, she is the type of student who sees helping others not as an obligation but as a responsibility and an opportunity to make her community stronger. Whether assisting at events, supporting school initiatives, or volunteering in the community, Brinley shows up wholeheartedly.
“Beyond the awards, the medals, and the résumé, what stands out most is Brinley’s character. She is widely known as a friend to everyone – someone who treats every teammate, peer, and teacher with kindness and respect. Her positivity is infectious, and her willingness to lift others up makes an impact far beyond athletics.
As she continues moving forward, balancing competition, academics, service, and leadership, Brinley Jones sets an example for younger students and for San Juan High School as a whole. She proves that success is not just measured in personal accomplishments, but in the way you help others succeed beside you.”
