Head Coach Will Walker: “Platte comes from a family of outstanding runners. His older sister and two older brothers were all top-tier athletes in the San Juan High School cross country program, and I believe he may be the most naturally gifted of them all.
“For some athletes, coming from that kind of pedigree can feel overwhelming, but Platte hasn’t let it slow him down at all. I think he was a little surprised when he finished fifth in last year’s championship race, but none of us were surprised by this year’s second-place finish. He continually works hard, embraces the expectations, sets the pace in most of our races, and keeps improving every week.
“Not only is Platte a gifted athlete, but he shows a genuine kindness and a real desire to look out for others. He has both the talent and the character to lead our boys team to another strong finish next year.”
