All State Drill Team

Drill Team All-State
Three San Juan County student-athletes were recently named to the All-State drill team for the 2021-2022 winter sports season. Impressively, none of the honorees are seniors this season and two of them are sophomores.
It’s a pretty impressive accomplishment for these young girls to earn the honor of All-State drill. The San Juan Record is proud to present each of the local honorees with a photo and comments from their respective head coach.
SADIE ADAIR – 2A ALL-STATE DRILL TEAM
Monticello Sophomore
Head Coach Ashley Adair: “Sadie Adair made the 2A All-State drill team as a sophomore for the 2021-22 drill season. She competed among other 2A drill team members, performing an across-the-floor technique combo as well as a short dance at Juab High school to earn her spot on the team.
“Each drill team selects three members to try out for the All-State team. It’s a tough competition judged by a panel of judges. Along with this huge honor Sadie won two first places and one second at three drill competitions with her lyrical solo.
“She earned first and second place with her jazz solo at two additional competitions. On top of those accomplishments, she choreographed both of her solos this year.
“Sadie is a true team player. She is the girl everyone wants on their team. She gives 110 percent at practice as well as competitions. She willing to help anyone who asks.
“This past summer she helped teach dances on her own time to her teammates who couldn’t make it to camp. She loves this sport and loves being a part of a team. She has a drive and determination that will take her places. We are proud of her and can’t wait to see where she goes from here.”
JOSIE LOTT – 2A ALL-STATE DRILL TEAM
San Juan Junior
Head Coach Camie Nielson: “Josie Lott is one of San Juan High School’s first drill team members to make the All-State drill team. What an amazing accomplishment this is for Josie and the entire All-State team.
“Josie has been a member of the San Juan High drill team for three years and has always had a love for dance. I am honored to be her coach and to watch her excel in a sport that she is so passionate about.
“Josie puts her heart and soul into dance and everything that she is involved in. She is an outstanding student and represents San Juan High School very well. She has an eye for technique and is very powerful and driven. Josie is a leader, motivator, and a friend to everyone. I am beyond proud of Josie for her hard work and dedication.”
RYANN MCPHERSON – 2A ALL-STATE DRILL TEAM
San Juan Sophomore
Head Coach Camie Nielson: “Ryann McPherson is also one of San Juan High School’s first drill team members to make the All-State drill team. This has been an amazing accomplishment for Ryann and the entire All-State team.
“Ryann has been a member of the San Juan High drill team for two years and has danced since she was three years old. Ryann is very passionate about dance and puts her heart and soul into it.
“Ryann represents San Juan High School very well. She has an amazing ability to lift and motivate others. She has an eye for choreography and is limitless, competitive, and driven. I am incredibly grateful to be her coach and to watch her excel in a sport that she is so passionate about.”
