All State - Kheirra Keith 2A wrestling third place San Juan sophomore ~ 130 pounds ~ 32 wins-13 losses
Head Coach Art Adair: “Kheirra finished her sophomore season with an impressive third-place finish at the state tournament, losing only one match during the tournament. Pound for pound, she is one of the most powerful wrestlers on our team. Time and time again she has delivered some of the biggest throws on the mat. Many of her competitors have commented on how strong she is and how physical her throws can be. Kheirra is a wrestler you can always count on to step onto the mat and give her very best.
“She wrestled for a divisional championship this season and was defeated by a wrestler she later faced again at the state tournament. This time, Kheirra dominated the match from start to finish and eventually pinned her opponent. Last season, Kheirra finished fourth at state, and you could tell she didn’t want this season to end with a loss. Although she didn’t reach the very top of the podium, she competed like a champion all season long. Earlier in the year, she even defeated the eventual state champion with her strength and powerful wrestling.
“Kheirra works extremely hard at everything she does. She’s also someone people love being around and has one of the best personalities on our team. She finished her sophomore season with a 32-13 record while competing in one of the toughest weight classes in the division. She also led the team in takedowns, reversals, and near-fall points, once again showing her dominance on the mat. Kheirra is the kind of athlete you’ll find putting in extra work on weekends and throughout the season to keep improving. For her, success is the standard. We’re fortunate to have her in our program for two more seasons, and we’re excited to see what she will accomplish next.”
