Head Coach Jeff Hunt: “Maron is the Swiss Army knife of the girls track team. We really could put her about anywhere and she would compete and compete well. The 400 meter is also one of – if not the – hardest races in track. Most kids on the team will run it once. She also had a short recovery window, going from one event to another with almost no rest time.
“Heading into region, Maron was struggling a little and needed a bit of confidence. She came home with four medals, three of them region titles. She rode that momentum to being one of four athletes from Monticello to be on the podium four times at the state championships, and we needed every point she gave us. Maron definitely showed that she has the speed, power, and most of all, grit to compete just about anywhere.”
