Bronco boys golf team finishes third in Region 15 Championship

The San Juan High School boys golf team shot a team score of 420 to finish third in the Region 15 Championship at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron on Monday, September 30.
Noah Olsen led the Broncos with a 96, tying Grand County’s Kalan Bowden for sixth overall. Nash Jones shot a 98 to tie for eighth place overall. Liam Lacy’s 103 put him in 15th place. And Teagen Harris shot a 123 for 31st.
North Summit won the region championship with a team score of 374. Grand County was second with a 381. Only the top four players from each school make up the team gross score.
Other San Juan Broncos who played in the region tourney include Kavan Harris, who finished just outside the team top-four with a 124 in 33rd overall. Baylor Nielson carded a 126, finishing 35th. And Lachlan Lacy hit 136 to take 38th.
In the rounds preceding the region tournament San Juan endured a couple road trips. They shot a season-best 389, finishing third at the Round Valley Golf Course in Morgan, UT on September 18.
Nash Jones led the way with an outstanding round of 83, good enough for a third-place tie in the event. Teagen Harris and Noah Olsen finished 16th and 17th overal with a 100 and 101 respectively. Liam Lacy rounded out the team scoring in 21st place with his 105.
On September 24 the boys traveled back up to Richfield to play the Cove View Golf Course with North Sevier hosting. They once again finished third with a team score of 392.
Jones led with an 88, good enough for ninth place overall. Olsen shot a 98 and finished 18th. Lacy took 20th with his round of 100. And Harris was 25th with a 106.
The Broncos will close out the season at the 2024 2A Utah Golf State Championship next Tuesday and Wednesday, October 8-9 at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Cedar City.
