Bronco golfers continue to battle as they near midpoint of season

The San Juan High School boys golf team is 17th among Utah 2A teams after the first four matches of the season. The team sports a 459-stroke average gross score and a 444.33 adjusted average.
Senior Baylor Nielson leads the Broncos with a 97.27-stroke adjusted average. Andrew Moses, a sophomore is next in line with a 100.84.
Freshman Maks Perkins sits third among the San Juan boys with a 102.85 average. Fellow juniors Lander Hart and Cruise Shumway are tied for fourth with identical 115.88 averages.
Ryan Shumway weighs in with a 122.92 adjusted average, good enough for sixth place on the team. Teagen Harris is seventh with a 125.16.
Brandt Bingham sits eighth for the Broncos with a 123.75 average, Boston Black is ninth with a 123.97, and Declan Bradford is shooting a 133.00 in tenth.
At the first match of the year August 5 at the Hideout Golf Course in Monticello Maks Perkins paced the team with a solid round of 105. Baylor Nielson shot a 119, Boston Black carded a 128, and Ryan Shumway scored 133.
The very next day, Wednesday, August 6, San Juan traveled to play at the Moab Golf Course. This time Baylor Nielson knocked 26 strokes off his previous-day score with a 21-over-par 93.
Boston Black shot a 124, Ryan Shumway got a 132, and Brandt Bingham carded a 134.
On Tuesday, August 12 the team traveled to Beaver to play at the Canyon Breeze Golf Course. Again, Baylor Nielson led the way with a 22-over-par 90. Andrew Moses had a nice round of 104.
Maks Perkins came home with a round of 104, and Ryan Shumway rounded out the Bronco top four with a 111.
In their most recent match San Juan played the Palisade State Park Golf Course in Sterling, UT on August 19.
Baylor Nielson paced the Broncos with a 98-stroke effort. Andrew Moses shot his best round of the season with a 101. Lander Hart and Cruise Shumway both carded 102s.
The Bronco golfers are next in action this Wednesday, August 27 at the Dixie Red Hills Golf Course in St. George. Following that match the team will be halfway through their regular season.
