Clocking a time of 22 minutes, 25.44 seconds, Monticello’s Lily Long (177) placed second overall at Dolores, Colorado’s third annual Boggy Draw Bear Chase this past Friday, August 20. Monticello’s Lilly Burton (174) leads Durango, Colorado’s Seneca Wilson (87) during Dolores, Colorado’s third annual Boggy Draw Bear Chase this past Friday, August 20. The Monticello cross country team opened their season in Dolores, CO on Friday, August 20. The boys and girls teams each finished second in the opening race of the season.

The boys team was led by senior Boston Freestone, sophomore Curtis Bunker, and freshman Kaden Pehrson. They finished fifth, sixth, and seventh overall in the 5K race.

Junior Easton Young finished 17th overall, with freshman Aaron Gillette and sophomore Soren Welch finished 24th and 26th to round out the varsity team for the Bucks. They finished 10 points behind San Juan.

For the girls team, the Buckaroos were led by a second place finish by senior Lily Long.

The rest of the varsity team was anchored by four freshmen. Lilly Burton finished right behind Long in fourth place, Ayla Carling finished 14th, and Abigail Crowley and Alexis Bailey finished 31st and 32nd.
