Cougars travel to compete at Ron Keller Invite

The Monument Valley track and field team traveled to Durango, CO on Saturday, April 20 to compete in the Ron Keller Invitational at Durango High School. Fourteen schools were represented in the highly-competitive event.
The Cougar boys scored one point in the competition, finishing in 12th among the boys teams. Josiah Gipe scored the point with his eighth-place finish in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:14.93.
Gipe also finished 15th in the 1600 with a time of 5:33.97 and 19th in the 800, crossing the line in 2:28.19. Akecheta Shortman and Riley Stanley finished together in 26th and 27th in the 800 with times of 2:45.44 and 2:47.20.
Ahtiyahna Gray finished 42nd for the Lady Cougars in the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 20.06. The team will return to Colorado on Thursday, April 25 to compete in the Bluejay Invitational in Mancos.
