Head Coach Mike Bowers: “Khatira is my warrior! She was a four-year starter for San Juan. She faced more adversity than I’ve ever seen an athlete endure.
“Early in her career she tore her ACL and had to have surgery. Additionally, the wear and tear of pitching caused her injuries and pain throughout her career. She never gave up and always worked hard to overcame adversity.
“I admire Khatira’s work ethic and desire to improve. Her hard work and dedication was rewarded earlier this year with a dual scholarship to West Burlington, Iowa Southeastern Community College.
“There she will play softball and wrestle. Khatira’s legacy will stand at San Juan High School for years to come.”
