Head Coach Jens Nielson: “Branten was one of the toughest outs in 2A baseball. He led by how he played which was a gritty style with a mindset to create chaos for other teams. I knew every time Branten was up to bat we had a chance.
“He did not allow himself to settle for mediocrity. His compete was on a different level. It was so fun coaching him and watching him play. His contribution was great for San Juan baseball and he will be greatly missed.”

Additional Comments from San Juan Head Coach Jens Nielson
This year was so much fun to coach and these players were at the core of why it was successful and why it was so much fun. Each one of them could have easily made First Team All-State. They are dynamic players whose impact will be hard to replace.
From what we gathered from the data available, this year’s squad set a San Juan High School record for home runs in a season with 27. The group of five All-State boys led the charge, contributing 21 of those 27 blasts, with the other two seniors – Brody Bilbao and Jaiten Knight – hitting the other six.
Those are impressive numbers from some very good baseball players. We wish you guys the best of luck. This season will always be one of the highlights of my coaching career. Congratulations, boys!
