Former San Juan High School wrestler Taydan Mark, now wrestling for Utah Tech as a freshman, went 2-1 to win the 157-pound division at the Veterans Day Duals at Fresno State University on November 10.
Mark received a first-round bye, then beat Fresno State opponents Damian Galvan-Calderon and Gregory Garrett, both by fall. His only loss was by technical fall to University of California - Riverside’s Simon Nguyen.
The previous weekend he went 4-1, finishing second at the Colorado State Invitational. He won three matches by fall over Ayden Archuleta (Sacramento State), Fernando Luna (Colorado State), and Ian Wallace (Colorado State).
Among National Collegiate Wrestling Association teams, Mark is ranked eighth out of 30 wrestlers in the 157-pound classification. He currently has six wins and two losses on the season.
