Kooper Nielson 1A Boys Golf honorable mention Monticello senior 16th place at state tournament

Head Coach Nathan Chamberlain: “As a four-year competitor for the Monticello golf team Kooper has been the player that a coach looks forward to working with. He’s easy to get along with, enjoys the game, desires to improve, and is willing to spend time on his own to do so. Kooper has shown his commitment to Monticello High School by involving himself in multiple aspects of the school.
“As a two-sport athlete, juggling both practices was a scheduling predicament that he worked out and still was able to give us the scores we needed to advance the team to the second day at state. Kooper shot a team low the first day of state which secured our place in the standings for day two.
“Throughout the season he was an enjoyable player to coach. He was always a team player and put the team first. In the game of golf having a strong mind that can push the negative thoughts out is key to success, and that is how Kooper finished this season.”
