Lady Raiders win four of last five matches

The Whitehorse High School volleyball team suffered a straight-sets loss to rival Monticello on September 23 in Monticello, falling to 5-4 on the season.
The Lady Raiders traveled to Rehoboth, NM on September 26 to play in the Rehoboth Christian Tournament where they suffered a tough four-set loss to To’hajiilee, NM in their opening game.
But since those two losses the Whitehorse girls have won four of their last five games, improving to 9-6 on the season. The team was 12th in the Utah 1A standings entering this week.
They beat Shiprock Northwest 3-1 in their second game of the Rehoboth Christian Tournament, but fell to San Carlos in straight sets to close out their trip south.
The Lady Raiders got the past week started early with a rivalry matchup against Red Mesa, AZ on Monday, September 29. They swept the Lady Redskins 3-0 in the first of three straight wins.
On Wednesday, October 1 Whitehorse welcomed Region 19 foe Green River to Montezuma Creek, making quick work of the Lady Pirates in a 3-1 win.
Keira Chee collected 13 kills in that victory while Katiana Ben registered nine, Kaleigh Chee five, and Keira Little three.
Malia Sam served up six aces in the match, Kelaigha Nakai hit five, and Keira and Kaleigh Chee served three apiece.
Keira Little and Keira Chee blocked four Green River hits apiece, with Miranda Denny and Katiana Ben getting three blocks each.
On Friday, October 3 the Lady Raiders dominated Pinnacle, sweeping the Lady Panthers 25-13, 25-17, and 25-8.
Keira Chee led the offensive attack with six kills. Katiana Ben had four kills in the win, Kaleigh Chee got two, and Miranda Denny one.
Keira Chee also led the team with seven aces. Ben served up six aces, Kaleigh Chee and Keira Little three each, and Kelaigha Nakai served two.
Whitehorse is hoping to keep their momentum alive with three matches scheduled this week. They hosted Rough Rock, AZ on Tuesday, October 7.
The Lady Raiders will spend the last half of the week on the road against Escalante on Wednesday, October 8 and Wayne on Thursday, October 9. Following this week’s action the girls will have just two games remaining in the regular season.
