Mantz fourth in Boston

Conner Mantz was fourth at the 2025 Boston Marathon on April 21, finishing just seconds away from mounting the podium with a top-three finish.
Mantz’s time was a personal record of 2:05.08 and is the top American finish since 2017. His time is the second-fastest ever run by an American on what is considered one of the most difficult courses on earth.
Conner’s father, Robert Mantz grew up in Blanding and is a graduate of San Juan High School. His grandfather, Paul Mantz taught school at Blanding Elementary for many years and now resides in Monticello.
His grandmother Lorraine also taught school in Blanding and lived in Monticello for a time in her later years.
Conner has two uncles who currently live in Monticello, Kit Mantz and Eric Mantz, and until just recently his aunt, Tina Mantz Murdock also lived in Monticello.
Mantz ran collegiately for Brigham Young University. Three BYU runners finished in the top seven in the marathon.
