Maron Freestone 1A State Track Monticello Junior 100 Meter Hurdle State Champion, 300 Meter Hurdle State Champion, 400 Meter Run Third Place

Head Coach Jeff Hunt: “There is an old saying that states, ‘When opportunity knocks, open the door.’  Well, Maron kicked the door down. Over the past month of the season she came on really strong. She even set the school record in the 400-meter dash.
“At state a different door opened up. We knew she had a solid chance at a title in the 400, but when Marlee went down in the 100-meter hurdles, Maron seized the opportunity to take the first of two state championships. In the 300 hurdles she left no doubt and cruised to a win.
“Maron has proven to be very versatile as she also saw the podium in the 400 meter with a third-place finish. She had a personal best in the high jump this season.”
