Monticello boys go 1-2 against Colorado teams

The Monticello boys basketball team opened their week with a 64-37 road victory over Dolores.
In a game the Buckaroos controlled throughout Curtis Bunker led the way with 13 points, Mason Atwood scored 12. JD McDonald and Jackson Keyes each had 9 points, Chache Young scored six, Traken Lee had five, Kooper Nielson and Kaeden Pehrson each had four while Jaeden Camacho scored two.
The Buckaroos then traveled to the Dove Creek tournament on December 15 and 16. The boys were defeated by Nucla 46-25 on Friday.
The Bucks were led in scoring by Bunker who had 9 points, McDonald added six while Atwood scored 5. Nielson scored three 3 Lee had two points.
On Saturday the Monticello Buckaroos pushed Dove Creek to two overtime periods before falling 54-53 at the end of the second overtime.
Monticello was led by Bunker who poured in 20 points for the Buckaroos, while Lee had 12 points. Keyes scored six, while Atwood had five, Nielsen and Pehrson both had three, while McDonald had two and Young scored one.
The boys will be in action next in January.
