Monticello Bucks wrestle at Durango Duals

The Monticello Buckaroo wrestlers were in Durango, CO on Friday, January 14 for the Durango Duals tournament. Six teams were in attendance, wrestling five duals.

The Buckaroos defeated Mancos 41-36; Farmington, NM 48-27; and Piedra Vista 54-24. They were defeated by Kirtland Central 22-36 and Durango 48-18.

Buckaroos who ended the tourney undefeated were Javlin Robison at 5-0, earning three falls and a technical fall; Logan Draper at 3-0 with all wins by fall; and Oakley Adams at 4-0, winning three by fall.

Buckaroos with one loss were Zac Thayn with two wins by fall, Josh Wheeler with three wins by fall, and Treydon Harris with three wins by fall.

Tyler Thayn went 1-2 with a win by fall and Jarum Robison earned a win by fall. Also wrestling hard for the Buckaroos were Tavon Black and Camren Carpenter.

In the JV brackets, Tyson Wheeler earned first place with three wins. Chandler Henderson earned a third-place finish with four wins.

Wheeler and Henderson wrestled each other to get into the finals with Wheeler earning the close win, 3-2.

The Buckaroos closed out the regular season with their final home matches of the year Tuesday, January 18, too late for press deadline. They’ll travel to Milford High School on Friday, January 28 for the Divisional Tournament.
