Monticello girls finish second at state cheer

The Monticello High School cheerleading team brought home the second-place trophy from the Utah 1A Competitive Cheerleading competition January 22 at Utah Valley University in Orem.
The Bucks earned two second-place finishes in Cheer and Show and a fourth-place result in the Dance category. Rich High was the overall champion.
It was the first state trophy for Monticello, who are competing for just the third year in Competitive Cheer. The team is under the direction of Head Coach Monique Christiansen and Assistant Coach Loren Westcott.
Members of the team include Kaylie Mower, Carmen Chavira, Aubrey Black, Gemma Crater, Abigail Crowley, Annaleigh Nebeker, Amelia Henderson, Dani Black, Paisli Vigil, Faith Erickson, Josie Bowles, Sara McDonald, Myah Lewis, and Deja LaGiglia.
