Monticello girls go 2-1 against Colorado teams

The Monticello girls basketball team went 2-1 on the week defeating Dolores twice and falling to Nucla.
The Lady Bucks opened the week at home on December 12 defeating Dolores 42-32. Dolores led 11-10 after one quarter, but Monticello took a 19-16 lead into halftime. Monticello extended their lead 29-23 at the end of the third quarter before winning the final frame 42-32.
The Lady Bucks were led by Kenlee Atwood who finished with 18 points and Jemma Robison who had 15 points. Braylee Freestone had three while Kahryme Alvarado, Alyssa Sanchez, and Makenna Peterson each had two points.
On December 15 and 16 Monticello traveled to the Dove Creek tournament. The Monticello girls played Nucla on Friday. While the lady Bucks had a 22-15 lead at halftime, the lady Mustangs had a 15-point third quarter winning the game 39-30.
The lady Bucks were led in scoring by Robison who had 13 points, and Atwood who had 11 points, Freestone scored four while Alverado had two points.
Monticello girls bounced back facing Dolores at the Dove Creek tournament on Saturday. Monticello trailed 13-10 after one quarter and 22-18 at halftime.
Monticello took a lead after three quarters shutting out Dolores to take a 30-22 lead into the final frame. The lady Buckaroos finished the game on top winning 39-31. 
Atwood once again led the way scoring 18 points, Robison score 10, Peterson had 7 and Alverado chipped in four points.
The girls play next in January.
