Monticello Golfers Shine at Carbon County Tournament, Set Sights on Region Championship

Golfers from Monticello participated in a tournament held at the Carbon County Golf Course on Wednesday, April 24th. This was their second and final tournament at Pinnacle Canyon’s home course. Green River also participated in the match.
Leading the way for the Monticello Boys and securing the top rank was Traken Lee, who posted an impressive three over par 73.
Kooper Nielson scored his best round on the season, finishing with an 86. Canyon Christensen carded an 89 and Jackson Keyes, 90, concluding the team scores.
The Buckaroos finished with their best team score on the season, posting a 338, a 25 stroke improvement from their last match at the Carbon County Golf Course.
John Leber (109) and Ryan Holt (95) also participated in the match but did not calculate into the team score.
On the season, Lee is still on top of Region 19 with an average score of 81 followed by Canyon Christensen (91), Jackson Keyes (92), and Kooper Nielson (95).
Alise Lewis again led the girl’s golf team with a posted 90 but was pushed by her teammate, Freshman LE Olson who shot a 92, knocking off 10 strokes from her previous round at the Carbon County Golf Course. Cambree Chamberlain and Allie Young both carded 99, concluding the team score of 384.
Rebecca Chamberlain and Olivia Plemons also participated, shooting 124 and 141.
In the weekly reboot of “The Battle of the Burtons,” Lili bested her little sister Jane, defeating her bunkmate 104 to 111.
Lili currently leads the season series four matches to one.
Lewis remains number one in Region 19 with an average score of 90. Chamberlain and Young are second and third respectively with averages scores of 95 and 98. Newcomer LE Olson rounds out the team with an individual tally of 101.
Both golf teams will conclude their regular season at The Hideout Golf Club on Thursday, May 1st. Region 19 will host its annual regional match in Green River, just a few days later, on Monday, May 5th.
