Monticello grad sets SUU record wins WAC Championship

Southern Utah University junior Cedar English jumped a massive 25 feet, 0.5 inches, setting a new SUU indoor record and winning the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship in Albuquerque, NM on February 19. English’s performance helped the Thunderbird team earn a dominating WAC Championship. He is qualified for the NCAA Indoor Nationals on March 8-9. At the WAC Championships, he also cleared six feet, 4.75 inches to finish sixth in the high jump.English was the only WAC athlete to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Nationals in the long jump, where he finished 22nd overall. He is a 2021 graduate of Monticello High School.
