The Monticello volleyball team dominated matches against local rivals Green River and Dove Creek in the past week.
The opening set was the closest in Green River on Tuesday, September 8 with Monticello winning 25-20. The Lady Bucks went on to win in straight sets in the second and third 25-18 and 25-11.
The team won in straight sets again when they hosted Dove Creek on Thursday, September 10. They won the opening set 25-17, the second 25-14, and the third 25-12.
The next day on Friday, October 11 the girls traveled to Rock Point, AZ to take on a tough Rock Point Lady Cougars team that ultimately downed them in straight sets.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Monticello. Despite the setback the team is still 5-4 on the season, ranked tenth in the newly-released RPI standings.
The Lady Buckaroos are set for a couple of local rivalry matchups this week. First, on Wednesday, September 16 they’ll travel to Moab to take on the Grand County Lady Red Devils.
Then, on Thursday, September 17 they’ll welcome Monument Valley to the MHS gymnasium for a Region 19 showdown.
On Tuesday, September 22 Monticello will head to Montezuma Creek to take on Whitehorse, and on Thursday, September 24 they’ll hit the road again to play Dolores, CO.
