Monticello Wrestler wrap-up regular season action

The Monticello Buckaroo wrestlers closed out their regular season at home on January 18 at the annual Senior Night Quad. San Juan, Whitehorse, and Grand County high schools attended the event.

Three seniors, Cameron Bailey, Logan Draper, and Tyler Thayn were honored prior to the match along with their parents.

The Buckaroos defeated Grand 18-6. Tyler Thayn took early control scoring quickly and earned a first-period fall over Aiden Gordon. Oakley Adams was quick with an early takedown and first-period pin over
Caden Swasey.

Josh Wheeler earned a second-period fall over Connor Swasey in a tough match. Tyson Wheeler fought hard but was defeated by Connor Swasey by fall.

Cameron Bailey wrestled the only Buckaroo match against White-horse, getting the first takedown and earning the win by fall in the first period.

The Buckaroos defeated San Juan 21- 20. Treydon Harris was defeated by Chad Yellow in a tough match ending in a 12-9 decision.

Zac Thayn jumped to an early lead and earned a win over Lynnox Benn by fall in the first period. Chandler Henderson also defeated Benn with a fall in the second period.

Josh Wheeler and JD Palmer had a tough battle, wrestling to a 10-10 tie after regulation. In the sudden victory period, Palmer scored the takedown and the 12-10 win for San Juan.

Javlin Robison came out strong, scoring early and defeating JD Palmer by fall. Cameron Bailey was defeated in a close match against Logan Keith, with San Juan getting a 10-7 win.

Logan Draper battled Landon Black for three periods and came away with a hard-fought 7-3 victory. Tavon Black and Jarum Robison worked hard for the Bucks but were defeated by fall by Tyler Bayles and Tayden Mark respectively.

Monticello travels to Milford on January 28 for the Divisional Tournament. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m.
