Monticello wrestlers compete in Pagosa

The Monticello High School wrestling team traveled to Pagosa Springs, CO over the weekend to attend the Rocky Mountain Invitational. The Buckaroos finished 11th in the field of 19 teams.
Seniors Tyson Wheeler and Camren Carpenter both wrestled their way to the championship match and brought home second-place finishes. Wheeler earned a win by fall and a 7-2 victory while Carpenter put two wins by fall in the book.
Jarum Robison earned two wins by fall and an exciting 1-0 victory on his way to a fourth-place medal. John Leber earned a win by fall and came home sixth. Tavon Black rounded out the medals with a win by fall and an eighth-place finish.
Diego Cortez earned a 19-3 technical fall win. Miles Coleman, Ronnie Harris, and Noah Dilts all wrestled hard for the Buckaroos.
This week Monticello will host a tri team meet on Wednesday, January 15 beginning at 6 p.m. The Buckaroos will honor four seniors prior to the match.
On Saturday, January 18 the Bucks travel to Hotchkiss, CO for their final regular tournament of the season.
Next Saturday, January 25 the team will host the Division A tournament with wrestling beginning at 10 a.m.
