Monticello XC boys finish third with two in top 10

The Monticello boys cross country team finished in third place at the 2025 1A state cross country meet in Salt Lake on October 28.
Monticello scored 72 points just six behind Bryce Valley and eight behind first place Panguitch at the state meet.
The Buckaroos were led by Eli Carling and Kooper Nielson who both finished top 10. 
Carling finished in fifth place in a time of 17:12 while Nielson finished in sixth place in a time of 17:15. Junior Charlie Welch finished in 20th place in a time of 18:27.
Rounding out scorers for Monticello was freshman Linden English who finished in 42 place in a time of 19:47. Freshman Christian Hunt also finished in 76 place in a time of 22:06.
The Buckaroos managed a top three finish even with an illness befalling freshman Gabe Long who was the team’s final scorer for most of the season. 
The Monticello girls cross country team finished in 10th place at the state meet led by an 11th place overall finish from sophomore Allie Carling in a time of 21:36.
Sophomore Mikaylah Gillette finished in 42 place in a time of 24:40 and freshman Brenna Baxter finished in 53rd place in a time of 26:05.
Freshman Murryn Suttlemyre rounded out scorers finishing in 67th place in a time of 27:48. Sophomore Xymenah Alvarado finished in 76th place in a time of 30:17.
