Monument Valley basketball teams wrapping up region play

The Monument Valley basketball teams competed in the Battle of the Drum, played Pinnacle and Green River in a region 19 heavy week.
Both Cougars teams suffered losses in the Battle of the Drum to Whitehorse on February 5, the girls 51-33 and the boys 93-36.
In the girls game the Cougars were led by 14 points from Kaylisa Tome, while Dakota Cly scored 13 and Shikeeya Hudson and Ayainna Cly each had two points.
On February 7 Monument Valley hosted Pinnacle Academy with the girls defeating the Panthers 72-33 and the boys falling 80-64.
In the girls game Monument Valley was led by 20 points for Dakotah Cly, with Tome scoring 13 and Nesbah Hunt adding 10 points. Hudson, Shilah Williams and Shaundin Blackwater all had five points in the game.
Malaya Blackmountain, Ayaianna Cly and Taylor Stanley all scored four while Sloane Sheppard scored two.
The Monument Valley boys team also were beat by Green River 101-20 on February 8. Both Monument Valley teams played against Monticello in their final game of the regular season on February 11 after the San Juan Record print deadline.
