Monument Valley girls basketball sit at 6-3 at end of 2025

The Monument Valley girls basketball team closed out 2025 with a busy schedule going into the winter break with a 6-3 record ranked #4 in the 1A ranks.
The Cougars hosted Chinle on Tuesday December 16 with the Wildcats coming away with a 70-35 win.
In the loss Monument Valley was led by Ayainna Cly with 12 points while Dakotah Cly scored 11. Taylor Stanley had six, Nesbah Hunt scored four and Malaya Blackmountain had two in the game.
Two days later the Lady Cougars went to a tournament and saw four Utah teams.
Monument Valley opened play on Thursday December 18 defeating Maeser Prep 66-32.
Monument Valley jumped to a 26-9 lead after one quarter and led 34-14 at halftime. The score favored the Cougars 50-27 after three quarters with the final score being 66-32.
Dakotah Cly led the team with 19 points while LeighAn Atene scored 17 and Stanley added 14 points. Blackmountain scored eight, while Hunt and Ayainna Cly each had four points.
On Friday December 19 the Cougars beat Vanguard Academy 69-28.
Monument Valley jumped to a 25-13 lead after one quarter and pushed the lead 51-22 at halftime. The Cougars extended their lead 63-22 after three quarters with the final frame favoring Monument Valley 69-28.
The Cougars saw four players score in double digits.
Dakotah Cly led the team with 20 points in the game while Atene and Ayainna Cly each scored 13 points with Hunt putting in 11. Stanley added eight while Blackmountain scored four in the win.
Monument Valley suffered their second loss of the week on Saturday December 20 to the #1 ranked Tabiona Tigers who remain undefeated on the season beating the Cougars 47-34.
Tabiona built a 12-3 lead after one quarter and held a 24-10 lead at halftime. The Cougars cut into the lead after three quarters with Tabiona leading 35-23 and the final score favored the Tigers 47-34.
Ayainna Cly scored nine in the game while Hunt, Stanley and Dakotah Cly all scored six points. Atene scored four and Blackmountain had three in the game.
Monument Valley was able to bounce back with a second game on December 20 defeating Milford 65-56.
Dakotah Cly scored 18 in the game while Ayainna Cly had 14 and Blackmountain scored 13. Stanley had nine while Hunt put up six and Atene had five.
TheCougars are next in action with a rivalry game on January 7 in the Battle of the Drum in Monument Valley against the Whitehorse Raiders.
