Monument Valley, Monticello volleyball prep for state

The Monument Valley and Monticello volleyball teams concluded their regular seasons with a trip to Richfield this past Friday and Saturday, October 17-18 to play in the 1A-2A Clash at the Sevier Valley Center.
The Lady Cougars lost the first two games of the tournament against Rowland Hall and Wayne but stormed back to win three straight over Tintic, Escalante, and Dugway.
The Lady Buckaroos went 2-3 on the weekend with wins over Milford and Wayne.
Both teams earned first-round byes in the 1A Utah State Volleyball Tournament and will travel to Orem to open play in the second round at Utah Valley University on Friday, October 24.
Monticello is the #7 seed and will face #10 Piute at 10:30 a.m. Monument Valley is the #9 seed and is looking to upset #8 Valley at 9 a.m.
Wins would place the teams in the state quarterfinals which will be contested later in the afternoon on Friday. Losses would drop them into the sixth-place consolation bracket for the remainder of the tournament.
