Monument Valley wrestlers open season in Moab, Whitehorse boys and girls in Panguitch

The Monument Valley High School wrestling team battled hard this past weekend at the Red Rocks Invitational in Moab, scoring 21 points to finish in 11th place.
Leading the way for the Cougars was Shayden Fatt who finished in fifth place with one pin. Devonte Thinn finished seventh with one pin. Also wrestling hard for Monument Valley were Jerious Clark and Jace Tsosie.
The Whitehorse Raiders were the only San Juan County team not wrestling in Moab this past weekend. Both the boys and girls teams took a trip to Garfield County for the Panguitch Invitational.
The Lady Raiders finished the tournament in 17th place but only behind five 1A/2A teams. Rayauna Lee led the girls team with a solid fourth-place result.
Marquel Hathale earned a sixth-place finish while teammates Hailigh Roberts and Shandiin Roberts each finished in seventh place.
The Whitehorse boys took 23rd in Panguitch. Earning four wins in the tournament were Lance Tsinigine and Landin Clark, while teammates Dante Silas and Malakai Rentz got two apiece. Riley Benallie also battled hard for the Raiders.
The Monument Valley wrestling team is heading southwest for the Parowan Invitational this Saturday, December 9. The Whitehorse teams are next in action at the Manti Holiday Classic December 15-16.
