Randee Bayles inducted into Softball Hall of Fame
Randee Bayles was inducted into the Utah Softball Hall of Fame on August 2 at the Larry H. Miller Softball Complex in Salt Lake City. Six other players and sponsor/managers were also inducted.
“Randee has played and been involved in men’s fastpitch softball since 1977,” said Kay Cameron, of the Utah Softball Hall of Fame.
“In 1977 Randee stayed to watch a game and they needed another player. He borrowed a mitt from a kid on a bike and he was hooked from that time forward.
“Randee played for several teams including the Royals, Quality Drilling, Best, the Chicken’s Rib, Enterprise, Mad Max, Page Brake, the Colorado Knights, and Bayles Exploration, a team that won the Monticello Invitational Tournament more than 20 times in the past 45 years.
“Randee was a catcher and loved every minute of it. When he could no longer play he continued to be involved as a coach and sponsor of many men’s, girls’, and boys’ fastpitch teams, providing opportunities for countless players to participate in the game we all love.
“As a sponsor he has contributed thousands of dollars to teams in Salt Lake City, Pleasant Grove, and Southern Utah. Randee earned MVP and All-Tournament awards during Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days and Monticello Pioneer Days.
“Today we honor Randee for the incredible impact he has had on softball in Utah.”
