Ranlife Home Loans beat Diamond C 15-0 to win their fourth straight championship at the Blue Mountain Invitational Fastpitch Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 20.
The Ranlife team is a bit of an enigma. For each of the past four years they’ve entered the tournament as Ranlife, but they’ve played all their games in blue jerseys that sport an “FCM” logo, for First Colony Mortgage.
There was even one player wearing a “Greystone Mortgage” jersey in this year’s tournament. Whatever their true identity, the team has been prolific in their annual trips to Monticello.
In 2021 they ended fellow Herriman, UT team Page Brake’s four-year title run. Since that time, no team except Page Brake has come close to stopping Ranlife’s streak.
Eight teams hit the Monticello ballfields this past weekend to do battle in the men’s fastpitch tournament, which is part of the annual Pioneer Day celebrations. It’s the longest consecutively-running tournament of its kind in the nation.
The tournament began Friday afternoon, July 19, ran through the entirety of Saturday, and concluded late Saturday evening after the fireworks.
To earn a spot in the title game, Ranlife beat Blanding’s Bayles Exploration team which had gone 2-1 in pool play.
Ranlife also went 2-1 in pool play with their only loss coming to Drillers who hail from South Weber UT. Drillers went on to win the bottom bracket championship, finishing third in the tournament.
Diamond C had a nice run going until they suffered the loss to Ranlife in the championship game. They were the only team to go undefeated in pool play and they beat Moab 13-7 in their semifinal matchup.
