It was the Robert Morrison show for the Monticello High School track and field team this past Saturday, March 16 at the Farm Bureau Invitational at Carbon High School in Price.
Morrison picked up all four of the top finishes for the Buckaroos and scored their only four points in the competition. His discus throw of 114 feet, three inches was good enough for fifth place.
Other strong finishes for the Monticello senior included a tenth place in the javelin, just outside the points with a throw of 138-5.0. He was 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.49. And he got 14th in the long jump with an 18-7.5.
Morrison led the Buckaroo boys to a 15th-place finish with his four points. The boys and girls teams were 18th combined in the event.
Monticello was competing with only a fraction of their team. Of the 35 athletes on the roster, only 16 made the trip to Price.
Next up, the Buckaroos will head south to Blanding for the San Juan County Championship this Saturday, March 23. They’ll compete in the Strata Invitational at Union High School in Roosevelt on Saturday, March 30.
