San Juan cross country boys finish second, girls fourth in Divisional Championship Meet

The San Juan High School cross country teams ran a very strong race in the Utah 2A Divisional Meet on Tuesday, October 14 at Lakeside Sports Park in Orem.
Junior Platte Lyman set a new personal record, coming across the line in 17:16 to win the boys Section A Championship. He paced the Broncos to a second-place team finish.
Rosendo Martine, a senior, was only 31 seconds behind Lyman in third place overall with his very nice run of 17:47.
Junior Jack Kartchner came home 11th with a run of 18:36.5 and freshman Cannon Kartchner was 15th in 19:01, setting a new personal record in the 5,000 meters.
Sophomore Keegan McCullough rounded out the Broncos’ scoring positions with a solid 19:03 run, good enough for 16th overall. San Juan finished just nine points behind team champions Millard.
On the girls side junior Sincere Nez led the way in sixth place with her season-best run of 21:07.6. Ada Lyman was next across the line for the Lady Broncos, taking 17th place in 23:45.7.
Brinley Jones was 28th overall in 25:46.8, also a season best. Harmony Oshley joined the club as well, running a season-best 26:08.5 to finish in 34th place.
Braylyn Eddie’s run of 26:08.5 was also a season best as she came home 37th overall. The San Juan girls took fourth place as a team in the Section B Championship.
With the Divisional Championship in the books it’s time for the Utah State Cross Country Championships. They’re set for Tuesday and Wednesday, October 28-29 at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City.
