San Juan girls tennis duo battles in state tourney

San Juan High School juniors Shayli Bake and Amelia McFarland led the girls tennis team all season with outstanding first doubles play.
This past Friday, October 6 they finished with a tough loss in the Round of 16 in the 2023 3A Utah Girls State Tennis Tournament at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.
They fell 6-2 and 6-1 to Ainsley Moore and Frances Hodson of Rowland Hall, bringing their final season record to five wins and four losses.
In the previous week Bake and McFarland defeated Stella Kessell and Theresa Legler of Wasatch Academy 6-2 and 6-3 in the first round of the tournament in Mt. Pleasant on September 30.
As a team San Juan was 1-4 this season with a victory over Millard in the opening match of the year on August 15. They won 12 sets while losing 27 for a 30.8 winning percentage.
Congratulations to Lady Bronco Head Coach Holly Walker and all the players on a great 2023 girls tennis season for San Juan High School.
