San Juan Junior Oaysis Nielson earns invite to camp

San Juan High School junior Oaysis Nielson has earned national recognition for her achievements on and off the field, culminating in an invitation to a prestigious College Coaches Showcase Camp in Florida this January.
Nielson is a dedicated multi-sport student-athlete who maintains a 3.9 GPA while balancing academics, athletics, extracurricular involvement, and community service.
She is an active member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), the National Honor Society, and the yearbook staff, and her strong religious commitment drives her continued involvement in community service.
In addition, Nielson holds a part-time job and maintains an active social life, further demonstrating a strong work ethic and time-management skills.
A varsity soccer player since her freshman year, Nielson played a key role in the growth of the San Juan High School soccer program.
The program has progressed from scoring a single goal in her freshman season to a winning record and outscoring opponents in her junior year. She is expected to continue as a team leader heading into her senior season.
Nielson aspires to compete at the collegiate level. She has received offers from Rockford University (IL), Earlham College (IN), Trinidad State College (CO), and Vermont State University.
Nielson participated in the College Coaches Showcase Camp after attending a regional camp hosted by the University of Utah.
This year, CCSC hosted 28 camps nationwide, involving 126 collegiate programs. From those camps, standout athletes were selected for the CCSC National Camp. Nielson was selected as a defender, making her one of 24 defenders nationwide invited to participate.
The national camp will include advanced training sessions and a round-robin competition. Of the 126 collegiate programs involved with CCSC, 20 will be in attendance to evaluate athletes in person.
Nielson’s selection represents a milestone in her athletic career and reflects her dedication, growth, and commitment to excellence.
The experience is expected to further her development as a player while positively impacting the San Juan High School soccer program through the skills and insights she brings back to her team.
