San Juan, Monticello cross country teams compete in UIAAA Invite

With 79 teams and 2,913 runners the Monticello and San Juan Cross Country teams competed in the largest meet of their season at the UIAAA invitational in Spanish Fork, Utah on August 29.
With over 12 races, the two smaller schools from San Juan County held their own in their divisions and saw several runners hit personal records early in the 2026 cross country season.
In the top level Championship race the San Juan boys finished 26th as a team in their event. The Broncos were led by Cannon Karthner who was 116th with a time of 17:09. Platte Lyman was 129th with a time of 17:18.
Peter Lyman was 138 with a time of 17:22, Keegan McCullough was 152 with a time of 17:43 and Jack Kartchner was 158 with a time of 17:48 to round out varsity scorers. Jeraden Hurst also ran well with a 17:59 time and James Gosney running a 19:16.
In their JV Jr/Sr race the San Juan girls finished 6th and were led by Sincere Nez who won the race with a time of 19:46. Ada Lyman finished 10th with a 21:48 time. Ava Duke was 45th with a 24:17 time.
Harmon Oshley was 61st with a time of 25:08, and Braylyn Eddie was 82nd with a 26:07 time to round out varsity scorers. Eihaazbah Dejolie also ran well for the Broncos finishing in 28:14.
The Monticello boys finished 26th as a team in their Varsity race. The Buckaroos were led by Eli Carling who finished 21st with a time of 16:43.
Finishing 134 was Charlie Welch with a time of 18:23, while Linden English was 136 with a time of 18:25. Gabe Long was 193 with a time of 21:05 while Christian Hunt wrapped up varsity scorers with a 198 finish and a 21:43 time.
The Monticello girls finished 25th in their Varsity race. Allie Carling led the team finishing 31st in a time of 20:45.
Latalia O’Hara was 164 with a time of 23:55, Murryn Suttlemyre was 169 with a time of 24:14, Xymenah Alvarado was 180th in a time of 24:58, and Brenna Baxter was 188 with a 25:35 time to round out varsity scorers for the Bucks.
