San Juan softball has a solid first half of April

The 2025 San Juan High School softball team entered the month of April with five wins on the season. They added to that figure with three key 2A North region wins to kick off the month, sweeping North Sevier in a road doubleheader 15-4 and 22-2 on April 4 then defeating rival Grand County 4-3 April 8.
San Juan won their first game against North Sevier 15-4 after five innings. Miley Harrison and Madden Perkins went 1.000 for plate appearances in the game. Harrison had two hits including a double and batted in five runs. Perkins also had two hits including a triple and batted in one run. Sadie Cosby also batted in two runs and Averie Gilson had a triple for the broncos.
Khatira Keith pitched all five innings for the Broncos striking out 12 batters and giving up two earned runs in the game.
San Juan was even more dominant in game two earning a 22-2 win after just three innings played.
Khatira Keith batted in seven runs on three hits including a home run. Gilson also did well in the batters box hitting a double, triple and home run to bat in four runs. Harrison also hit a homerun for San Juan, while Morgann McPherson hit a triple as well. Kheirra Keith got the win on the mound in game two striking out three batters and giving up just two earned runs.
San Juan also defeated rival Grand County in close contest on April 4 with the Broncos earning a 4-3 victory.
Keegan Palmer led the way for San Juan’s offense with an RBI double. Perkins had the only other hit in the game for San Juan and also crossed home plate herself. San Juan players reached first base first time on balls, with six stolen bases also being a huge differential in the close contest, including two steals by Perkins.
Khatira Keith got the win on the mound striking out 11 batters through seven innings and giving up no earned runs.
The Lady Broncos are 8-13 on the season, ranked 11th in the 2A RPI standings. They’re led offensively by Madden Perkins who is hitting .439 with 25 hits, 12 RBIs, and 26 runs scored. Khatira Keith is hitting .429 with 24 hits including two home runs, 27 RBIs, and nine runs scored. Averie Gilson is .393 at the plate with 22 hits including three homers, 18 RBIs, and 29 runs scored. Perkins leads the team with 126 putouts and 18 assists. Sadie Cosby has 66 putouts so far this season and Gilson has 22. The sister duo of Khatira and Keirra have handled the bulk of the work on the mound with 94.1 combined innings pitched. Khatira has struck out 73 batters while allowing just 26 earned runs in 54.1 innings. Keirra has 41 strikeouts with 37 earned runs in 40 innings. The team is heading into the home stretch of the regular season.
On Thursday, April 17 they’ll host North Summit in a region doubleheader. Friday, April 25 they travel for a region doubleheader against Rowland Hall. Then they close out the regular season with a home contest against 5A Taylorsville on Saturday, April 26.
