Head Coach Mike Bowers: “Kheirra Keith is a critical piece to the success of San Juan softball. She is a phenomenal outfielder. However, we needed a third baseman and with her cannon of an arm, her coach made her play there. She never let me forget that she loves the outfield.
“Her freshman year, Kheirra pitched and played third base and didn’t get to hit in many games. This year she got the nod to start hitting in the lineup. With her constant improvement she found her way into the cleanup spot in the lineup early in the season. She never left that spot and performed exceptionally well.
“Kheirra is a relentless competitor who understands the game. She has an innate ability to make the right choices in high-leverage situations. She is a gifted athlete and I believe she has another level of play within her. She’s an exceptional pitcher who would normally get more innings, but was so invaluable at third base. In my opinion she’s the best third baseman San Juan has ever had. I can’t wait to see what her next two years bring.”
