Head Coach Nathan Chamberlain: “Rebecca played at the state tournament as an individual where she watched her sister compete with an amazing group of girls. I believe this led to her determination to improve her scores to become a contributing member of a State Championship team. Having a coach as a father added to the expectation Rebecca placed upon herself this past offseason. She spent many hours at the Hideout practicing and improving her skill as well as her attitude toward the game.
“It takes four scores to compete at the state level. Rebecca was an essential player for our team when we needed a very consistent #3. At the beginning of the season our thought process was just to be competitive at the tournament. Mid-season with the vast improvement Rebecca showed, the mindset changed and it was looking like we could actually take state if we could get all the girls to golf their own game.
“Rebecca spent hours putting and chipping to improve her short game. In the clutch, she chipped in for a birdie, one of only four for the tournament. As a father, I couldn’t watch the last two holes she played because of the nerves, but Rebecca stayed the course and finished well enough to put our team on top.”
