The Monticello Lady Buckaroo softball team finally broke through in a big way on Friday, April 4, wrangling their first win of the season – and their first region victory – with an 18-2 stampede over the Pinnacle Panthers.
Marli Snyder drove in six runs on four hits to lead the Lady Bucks past the Pinnacle Panthers. Snyder doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the fourth scoring one, and walked in the fifth scoring one.
Taylor Barry struck out 11 Lady Panthers while not giving up any hits and allowing only two unearned runs over five innings with six walks. Barry also contributed offensively with a home run for the Lady Buckaroos.
Following the past week’s action Monticello is 1-5 on the season, ranked 13th in the 2A RPI standings. They traveled to Panguitch to face the #9 Lady Bobcats in a 2A Central region contest on Tuesday, April 8 after the San Juan Record press deadline.
The Lady Buckaroos are set for another game against Panguitch in Monticello to close out the week on Friday, April 11. They’ll host #17 Piute in a region doubleheader on Tuesday, April 15.
