Spring sports begin for San Juan County high schools

It’s hard to believe, but the spring sports season is underway for San Juan County high school teams. The year officially began with a rivalry matchup between the San Juan and Monticello baseball teams in Blanding on Tuesday, March 9.

On Wednesday, March 10 the San Juan girls golf team will play the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield.

It’ll be a very busy opening week for San Juan boys soccer. They start the year at home against Grand at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, then they head to St. George for the Preseason Invitational at Desert Hills High School Thursday through Saturday, March 11-13.

The Monticello baseball team hosts Grand Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m while the San Juan tennis team plays the Region 12 Preseason Tournament in Richfield.

The San Juan baseball team visits Summit Academy for a doubleheader Friday and Saturday, March 12-13.

On Saturday the Monticello and San Juan track teams compete in the Redrock Invitational in Moab and San Juan boys tennis hosts Carbon.

And on Monday, March 15 the San Juan girls golf team takes on the Grand Lady Red Devils in Moab and the Bronco tennis team plays Richfield and South Sevier in Richfield.
