State Champion Thrower - Cash Palmer

Head Coach Samantha Pemberton: “As a two-sport spring athlete, much of Cash’s time was committed to baseball, which demanded a full schedule of games and team responsibilities. Despite that, Cash found ways – often behind the scenes – to train and become a high-level contributor on our track and field team as well.
“Long before the season began, Cash and his dad were regularly reaching out to coaches, asking for guidance and insight. While others were relaxing or pursuing recreation, Cash was putting in extra work. He even built a shot put ring in his backyard and practiced with discipline and consistency. On many Sundays, it became a family activity to go to the school ring and throw. That kind of commitment is rare – and it showed.
“All season long, Cash maintained a strong second-place ranking in competition, but we – and he – knew he had more in the tank. In practice, he was routinely making throws that would have topped the state leaderboard. He stayed focused on his goal, trained hard, and when the spotlight came on, he delivered. Cash hit his season goal with a throw of over 48 feet, winning the state championship by a commanding margin of nearly four feet.
“With his senior year ahead, Cash has his sights set on breaking the school record and making it three consecutive shot put championships for San Juan (following Jared Burke’s win in 2024). Given his work ethic, attitude, and talent, we’d confidently place our bet on him. Great job, Cash. You’ve earned every bit of this recognition.”
