State Champion - Tripp Palmer

Tripp Palmer
San Juan High Junior • two-time high jump & one time long jump state champion
20’ 11.75” Long jump • 6’ 9” High Jump
Both are school records

Head Coach Samantha Pemberton: “Tripp exemplifies everything a coach hopes for in an athlete and teammate. His natural athleticism is undeniable, but it’s his focus, drive, and work ethic that truly set him apart. Tripp has taken his God-given talents and elevated them through discipline and dedication, never relying solely on his abilities.
“Unlike many highly-gifted athletes who get caught up in their own hype, Tripp is remarkably humble. There is no ego – only a quiet confidence and a commitment to growth. As a junior, he is already a back-to-back state champion in the high jump, holding the school record at an incredible 6’9”. This year, he added a state championship in the long jump and earned a medal in the javelin.
“To date Tripp has earned six state medals, and with his senior year still ahead we firmly believe he has the potential to break a state record or two. We think it’s likely we’ll witness the extraordinary milestone of a seven-foot high jump.
“Tripp responds to coaching with maturity and eagerness, taking feedback to heart and applying it immediately. You’d be hard-pressed to find a fellow student, teammate, or competitor from anywhere in the state who doesn’t speak highly of him. His humility, kindness, and authenticity make him someone others naturally gravitate toward – on and off the field.
“Looking ahead, Tripp has a bright future not just in track, but also as a top-level football and basketball player. This recognition is more than deserved. Congratulations, Tripp – you make your team, school, and community proud.”
