Trez Perkins and Ana Martinez are first-time Hideout Club Champions

There’s a new club champion at the Hideout Golf Club. Monticello’s own Trez Perkins dethroned two-time defending champion Josh Keyes on Saturday, July 12 to win the 2025 Hideout Club Championship.
Perkins shot a 3-over-par round of 75 to win the 18-hole event by three shots over Keyes. Blanding’s Rob Wilcox was third and Monticello’s Jeff Nielson fourth.
Perkins was steady all day long on Saturday as he was even par through eight holes.
After bogeys on the ninth and 11th holes, the 25-year-old birdied the 12th, 14th, and 15th to get to even par for the tournament and take a commanding lead.
Perkins did bogey two of his last three holes, but had a big enough lead to earn his first ever club title.
Earlier this spring Perkins combined with his wife, Tessa, to win the second flight of the Hideout Spring Couples Tournament.
The pair shot a 3-under-par 69 to win the second flight of two-person scramble.
Dove Creek’s Isaiah Martinez was the net champion at the Hideout Club Championship with a 5-under-par 67.
He earned a two-shot victory over his father, Zac Martinez, and Blanding’s Jolly Bayles.
There was another first-time champion in the women’s division as Ana Martinez turned in one of her best scores of the year Saturday at 14-over-86.
She bested last year’s champion Jan Simon who was second. The Dove Creek resident was exceptional on the back nine with a score of 5-over par 42.
Action’s just heating up for the summer at the beautiful Hideout. Coming up July 25-26 the annual Long Drive Contest is part of the annual Pioneer Day Celebration in Monticello. That runs from 3-5 p.m. both days.
The biggest tournaments of the year are August 1-3 with the annual Hideout Shootout and 36-hole Amateur.
The Senior Amateur and Women’s Amateur are set for August 15-16. And the Founders Scramble Tournament is on August 30.
