Whitehorse boys wrestling team takes fifth in 1A divisional tournament, girls finish sixth

The Whitehorse boys wrestling team finished in fifth place and qualified four wrestlers for the 1A state tournament at the 1A Division A tournament on January 30 in Randolph, Utah.
Whitehorse was led by senior Lance Tsinigine who won a divisional championship at 144 pounds. Lance Tsinigine won both of his matches pinning his way through the tournament.
Younger brother Hunter Tsosie finished second at the divisional championship at 165 pounds.
Hunter Tsinigine earned first period wins by fall in the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the finals a close match ended in the second period when his opponent from Altamont won by fall.
The Raiders Devontay Silas finished in third place at the divisional. Silas lost a close match in the semifinals by just two points but bounced back in the third place match where Silas built a 18-4 lead before earning the win by pin in the final seconds of the match.
Also placing third for the Raiders was Beau Holmes. Holmes lost his semifinal match by fall, but bounced back to build an 8-0 lead in his third-place match before pinning his opponent from Piute to finish in third place.
Dante Silas finished in sixth place and Jeremiah Chee also wrestled hard for the Raiders but both did not qualify for the state tournament.
The Whitehorse girls wrestling team finished sixth and qualified five wrestlers for the 1A/2A state tournament at the Division A tournament on January 31 in Duchesne, Utah.
The Raiders were led by Shandiin Roberts who finished in second place. Roberts won her first match by fall before being pinned in the finals.
Mikey Little finished in third place after losing the first round, bouncing back with a win by tech fall.
Kari Mike went 2-2 on the weekend to finish in fourth place with both wins coming by fall. Rayauna Lee also finished in fourth place with a win by pin. Katie Whitehair finished in 7th place for the Raiders. 
The 1A/2A girls state tournament and the 1A boys tournament are both set for February 14 at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
